Gucci and the "Boboli Spring": a cultural project blending Fashion with Art

Gucci announced the new cultural project involving the Uffizi Gallery and the city of Florence. The event will be celebrated on May 29th with Cruise 2018 collection at Palatine Gallery in Florence’s Pitti Palace.

The 'Boboli Spring' project has been promoted by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism under the aegis of the Florence city council. It includes a partnership with the Uffizi Gallery for the restoration and enhancement of the botanical heritage of the Boboli Gardens through Gucci’s commitment of two million euro over three years .

This act of patronage will culminate in the maison runway show at the Palatine Gallery, that has been restored for the occasion and will host the event showing off Cruise 2018 Collection (scheduled on May 29th).

"After showing the last two Cruise collections in the Art District of New York in 2015 and in the cloisters of London’s Westminster Abbey in 2016" stated President and CEO of Gucci Marco Bizzarri, "the celebration of the upcoming Cruise collection in the heart of this city has a special meaning, highly consistent with the cultural and aesthetic path of Alessandro  Michele, who finds his unquenchable source of inspiration in the city of Florence and in its Renaissance masterpieces”.

The Boboli Gardens represent a unique location thanks to their sculptures, architecture, landscapes and plants coming from all over the world.

The Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini said: "Fashion is part of the cultural heritage and history of our country, where taste, elegance and the education in beauty are part of our everyday life. The link between fashion and art has always been very close and has often favoured occasions for suggestive and unique meetings. Also in this case a prestigious brand of Italian style decides to invest significantly on a great cultural institution in full compliance with its mission."

Through the “Boboli Spring” project Gucci celebrates its return to the origin and its timeless bond with Florence.
