Oscar 2019: all you need to know about the 91st annual Academy Awards

The 91st annual Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, 24 February 2019 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

This year, there are eight films in the running that received the nomination as "Best Film": Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, La Favorita (The Favorite), Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born and Vice - L’uomo nell’ombra.

The five directors Alfonso Cuarón, Yorgos Lanthimos, Adam McKay, Paweł Pawlikowski and Spike Lee, who inaugurates his first participation in the Oscars for Best Director, contend for the "Best Director" award.

The actors nominated for "Best Actor" are Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Rami Malek and Viggo Mortensen. In the other category, Yalitza Aparicio, Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Lady Gaga and Melissa McCarthy are the candidates nominated for "Best Actress".

The evening’s confirmed musical performances at the 2019 Oscar’s includes a duet by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, together performing “Shallow,” from the movie “A Star is Born,” also nominated for Best Song.
