CFDA Fashion Awards 2017, the “Fashion Oscar Night” is coming back

Founded in 1962, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is an association of over 500 American fashion and accessory Designers, which promotes fashion design as part of American culture and art, and organizes annual events including the CFDA Fashion Awards.

Each June the CFDA Fashion Awards honors fashion personalities that mostly stood out throughout the year and recognize the outstanding contributions made to American fashion in womenswear, menswear, and accessories as well as journalism, creative vision, personal style, and lifetime achievement.

The CFDA Fashion Awards, which is considered as the highest honor of the fashion world, are often called "Fashion Oscar" for their importance in fashion industry.

For the first time, the CFDA has unified the “Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent” to include the womenswear, menswear and accessory design categories, and has introduced the “Swarovski Award for Positive Change” to honor an American designer who's positively impacted the community.

Pitti Uomo 92: the highlights of this edition

Pitti Uomo is the international exhibition par excellence for the world of men's fashion. Since the '70s, businessmen and creative individuals have met in Florence (Italy) twice a year to track the trends for future seasons and share and compare new styles. It's an unmissable event for globally influential buyers, trendsetters and journalists.

This year the event will take place from 13th to 16th June 2017 at the Fortezza da Basso with a new geography of the fair and it will uncover new and more stimulating routes of the exhibition itinerary through a redistribution of the spaces, an expansion of the sections representing today’s most contemporary experimental menswear styles and the development of the areas projected towards the future of fashion.

The vital energy and surprising beauty of flowers together form the inspiration for “BOOM, PITTI BLOOMS”, the main theme of the Pitti 92 summer fairs. Flowers that bloom like new creative ideas: unlikely, effervescent, ironic, without bucolic references to nature or green ethics but rather in a joyful, colorful aesthetic as if they were computer icons. Huge, inflatable plastic flowers, gigantic sculptures, flying bouquets, or flower-shaped fans are the emblems of the many new ideas that are blossoming.

Cannes Film Festival 2017: all about the 70th edition of the French event

The 70th Cannes Film Festival will take place from the 17th  to 28th of May  2017:  it will consist in twelve days of previews, awards, guests, press conferences, but also Red Carpet nights, exclusive parties and much more!

As every year, Croisette is set to become the point of reference for auteur cinema, opening its doors to international film directors, actors and actresses and showing in its theatres the most anticipated movies.

The French festival will officially open on the 17th of May with the show of the opening film: this year French director Arnaud Desplechin’s "Les Fantomes d'Ismael" with Mathieu Amlaric and Marion Cotillard will have the honour to inaugurate the event.

In addition to the previews and some out of competition films, the Cannes Film Festival 2017 will focus on the Official Selection, that consists in the 18 competition films yearning for winning the prestigious Golden Palm.

Pedro Almodóvar will head the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and he will be flanked by Monica Bellucci, who will be the maîtresse des Cérémonies and the goddess of the 70th edition of the Festival. The Italian actress will attend the opening and the closing ceremonies.

Every year the Cannes Film Festival also presents an official Poster that expresses the spirit of the show. This year the official poster is dedicated to Claudia Cardinale. Over the years Marcello Mastroianni, Marilyn Monroe and the couple Paul Newman - Joan Woodward  had the honour of being portrayed on the poster.

The "day by day" calendar of the Cannes Film Festival 2017 includes not only movie shows. Many events are planned, and some of them are related to works associated to brands traditionally linked to the Festival: an example is the Chopard party, one of the most exclusive ones of the Festival.

The evening Red Carpets are the daily appointment and the symbol of the Cannes Festival where the most elegant, most precious and even the most striking dresses are shown off. The international guests of Cannes then climb the marvelous montée des marches which leads to the magical Palais, where the magic of cinema is performed.

This edition will be a glamorous event, which will be even more fascinating this year thanks to the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Cannes Film Festival.
